The Somatic Consensus Learning Path
From embodied practice to carrying the work forward
Begin with the Foundations. Deepen through Advanced Training. For those who feel called, continue toward certification as a Somatic Consensus Trainer.
“Somatic Consensus is an opportunity to transform how you communicate with yourself and the world—understanding the importance of love and empathy.”— Reggie Townsend
David Weinstock is the founder of Liminal Somatics and the originator of Somatic Consensus. An international Nonviolent Communication trainer, somatic coach, fourth-degree Aikido practitioner, and author of Becoming What You Need, he has spent more than four decades exploring how embodied practice shapes the ways we relate, meet conflict, and create community. His teaching brings NVC, somatics, Aikido, and consensus into a grounded practice for living and leading.
A practice map within Somatic Consensus
The Spiral Blend helps the body find what the mind may already know.
You may understand empathy, needs, honest expression, and compassionate action. Yet in a charged moment, old patterns can take over. The Spiral Blend offers a way to pause, sense what is happening, find resource, and move toward connection and choice.
It is not the whole of Somatic Consensus, nor a rigid sequence. It is one living map within the larger body of work—drawing together Nonviolent Communication, somatics, Aikido, consensus, and the learning that comes through relationship and community.
Deepen your embodiment with the floor map and begin learning to guide and share the work responsibly with others.
After Advanced Training, enter the individualized Trainer Training and Certification path, supported by monthly group sessions and mentorship.
The map supports the practice. Somatic Consensus is the larger path of learning to live, relate, choose, and act from what matters.

Begin a ConversationA living body of practice
Become more available for what matters.
Somatic Consensus brings together Nonviolent Communication, somatics, Aikido, and consensus. The work supports us to listen more deeply, find and empower our voice, stay connected across difference, and shape life-serving action.
Come to deepen your personal practice, strengthen your work with others, or prepare to carry this work into your communities and professional life.
How the path develops
Learning that moves from the floor map into inner guidance.
Through a steady rhythm of learning, practice, reflection, and return, new choices become more available in the body. Community accelerates that learning as we witness one another, receive reflection, and discover possibilities we may not reach alone.
Certified Somatic Consensus Trainers and experienced Nonviolent Communication practitioners will accompany the cohort through practice sessions, questions, feedback, and integration—offering continuity and skilled support as the learning deepens.
“You create a beautiful container. These are seeds planted in my body that I believe will keep sprouting.”— Kirsten Elfandahl, Executive Director, Freedom Project

Six-month Advanced Training
Deepen the practice. Learn its nuances. Share it with care.
Embodied learning continues to deepen over time. The Advanced Training offers sustained practice for sensing subtler patterns, staying present with complexity, and discovering what different moments ask of us.
For those interested in sharing the work, this is where personal embodiment begins to become relational leadership. You will work more fully with the Spiral Blend floor map and learn when to guide, when to pause, when to listen, and how to accompany others without losing the living quality of the practice.

This individualized path supports you to deepen your embodiment, develop your teaching presence, create and lead your own program, and carry Somatic Consensus forward with integrity.
Certification unfolds through mentorship, monthly group sessions, demonstrated practice, and an individual timeline shaped around readiness rather than simply completing a fixed number of hours.
